In the year 2056, the Reach detected Bart Allen's super speed, and sought out to recruit him in their Metahuman army, after being turned down, they stole some of his DNA and cloned a genetic copy of him, but with more Thawne DNA to allow him to be more brutal than Bart. While Bart went back in time to change the Reach's control, Thaddeus was still in early development due to his slowed aging process, allowing him to become a genius. In the year 2134, Thaddeus's age development had reached Bart's age, Fourteen, and he had decided to replace him. Thaddeus spent two years building a time machine, and went back in time to the year 2017, to his surprise, Bart had already dropped his alias as Impulse, and had taken on the name of Kid Flash, thus making Thaddeus's alias of Inertia a bit confusing. After their fight, Bart drained Inertia of his speed, and used his powers to slow down time around Thaddeus, making him a statue in the Flash Museum. While being moved so repairs could be made in the Flash Museum after a recent "Rogue" attack, Thaddeus was struck by Red Lightning, freeing him from his slowed time and returned his super speed. After brutally murdering his guards and escaping, he tried to figure out the cause of the Red Lightning bolt, when suddenly he was met by the Reverse Flash, Professor Zoom. Zoom revealed he caused the lightning that freed Thaddeus of his prison, and offered him a Red and Yellow suit, asking him to wreck havoc as the Reverse Kid Flash. He accepted happily and now continues his career of chaos and destruction as "Kid Zoom."
